Self-Compassion is the Gateway to improved Self-Esteem and Mental Health!
What is Self-Compassion?
What if you woke up and noticed that you were treating yourself with kindness instead of harsh judgment and criticism? You started encouraging yourself when you failed instead of feeling like a complete failure or let down. You began to realize that your big emotions made sense given your current circumstances and allowed yourself to experience uncomfortable emotions without being completely overwhelmed by them. You acknowledge that you are human and that perfection is not a reality. Most of all, you are no longer listening to your inner critic or giving it power to control your life.
This is where you could be if you participated in self-compassion based therapy. It is known that practicing self-compassion consistently has a tremendous impact on levels of anxiety, depression, and your sense of self-esteem or self-worth.
Self-Compassion Based Therapy
Bringing awareness to your inner critic that tells you that you are not good enough, that others are superior in some way, that you cannot do something, that you are inadequate, or that you should never make a mistake is a huge step in building self-compassion.
We will focus on helping you motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism. We will bring awareness to your present moment through mindfulness. We will help you manage uncomfortable and intense emotions successfully with self-soothing and realistic self-talk.
This therapy combines a change in how you speak to yourself with changes in how you act when you are faced with challenges or painful experiences. You will begin to embrace the positive in your life despite the suffering. The things that are most important to you will start to be prioritized. You will face your challenges with kindness, implementing self-forgiveness, self-validation, and self-acceptance.
